Google has always been ahead of the curve in making these changes and even adapting itself to the environment while making text or voice query the norm that it is today. In recent times, Google has made 5 changes by upgrading the mobile search bar with features that users will find useful. 

With this article, we will lay emphasis on the same and learn and understand what these changes are. So, without further delay, here goes- 

  1. Shortcuts for Google Search

Apart from entering text queries, Google can be searched in many other ways. You can use Google Lens to translate text, upload pictures of objects to find them, or even hum into the microphone to find a song. 

All of Google’s advanced search techniques will now be more visible with touchable shortcuts in the Google iOS app.

  1. Search bar results

By including links to results in the search box, Google speeds up searching for things on mobile devices. Before you submit your search, Google populates the results as you type. 

This lets you quickly see what you need and find your questions faster than ever. This feature will be rolling out in the coming months or so. 

  1. Query refinement

With this feature, Google will suggest you ways to narrow your search to type into the search bar. Say you want to look for “Best cities India”, Google will allow you to expand the search by giving you suggestions like ‘ for expats’, ‘for children’, ‘for families’ etc. With this feature, one thing that definitely becomes easy for your search query is that you can find what suits you better and by being more specific to your search.  

By bringing search improvements, Google makes it easy to identify the most relevant results.

  1. Prominent web-stories

The new stories feature by Google will surge the information that the users are looking for by triggering what the users’ search would be. By emphasising the most pertinent and useful information, including material from content creators, Google’s new feature to make it simpler for any topic to be investigated. For themes like cities, you might find graphic accounts and brief videos from people who have been there, advice on how to explore the area, things to do, how to get there, and other crucial details you might want to be aware of as you plan your trip.

  1. Leveraging text, images and videos

 In order to better reflect how consumers search for subjects, Google are also re-evaluating how they present the results. Regardless of the information’s format, such as text, photos, or video, users only see the most pertinent material from a multitude of sources. Additionally, you have the choice to scroll further to view related searches. 

From the bottom of the search results screen, you can select to tap Additional Results to see more results for your search term. You can also scroll vertically to see the search results for e.g. “historic places in India” and you will get those results without toggling between web images and video tabs like you earlier used to. Now, isn’t that great?
