Step-By-Step Method to Transfer Hosting Account without cPanel

Home Blog workflow Step-By-Step Method to Transfer Hosting Account without cPanel
You may have been using the web hosting services of a particular provider and now you have decided to move to another hosting provider. Or even if you are continuing with the same provider, but you want to transfer the hosting account because you have upgraded or scaled.   If you want to transfer your hosting account without cPanel, you can but only if you follow the pointers in this article. So, without any further delay, here is a step-by-step method to transfer your hosting account without cPanel.

Transferring hosting account without cPanel

You must take two crucial actions in order to move your hosting account from one hosting provider to your current service provider:
  1. Upload your databases and files to your current hosting account. Your domain should point to your current hosting servers.
  2. Backup and migration of files.
The first bit can be done with the support of your current hosting provider also. But for the second one, you need to understand in detail what needs to be done and how.

Backup and migration of files

In case your current hosting account doesn’t have cPanel, you should take backup for all aspects of your records (database, website, emails, messages, and so on) utilizing the devices accessible in your current hosting account’s control panel:
  • Back up and download the content of your website(s) to your PC
  • Back up and download all your site related database (in case the phpMyAdmin tool is introduced on your ongoing hosting facilitator’s server, you can also export the data)
  • Upload the saved content of the old hosting account into the root directory of your domain name of the current hosting account (/home/user/public_html – folder for the main domain name ; /home/user/public_html/addondomain.tld –  for the addon domain name)
If you want to upload files via FTP, connect to the hosting server’s IP address and log in with your new cPanel username and password, which your new hosting facilitator will provide.   If you have a backup of your content, you can also use the cPanel > File Manager tool to restore it.
  1. Navigate to File Manager in cPanel.
  2. To upload your archive, choose the Upload option.
  3. Then, in File Manager, use the Extract tool to restore it. You are officially finished with the process if you only have files and no databases (for example, an HTML website).

Restoring MySQL Database

If you already have a database associated with your website, you will need to import it to your current hosting provider’s account. Please follow the steps outlined below to accomplish this:  Produce a new database and database consumer in your current hosting cPanel and assign the user to that database. Import the database dump using the phpMyAdmin device (.sql backup file downloaded from the server before). Following completion of the preceding steps, you should enter the new database connection credentials into your website configuration file (e.g. for a WordPress internet site this is the wp-config.php file; for Joomla-configuration.php; forDrupal-settings.php). Because the prefix has changed, please use the correct database identifier and username. To ensure you are using the correct one, navigate to cPanel> MySQL Databases    It’s important to change your password to the one you used to create your database user. You can also alter this password to one from the configuration file if you’d prefer. This is possible under the cPanel menu for MySQL Databases. Also keep in mind that on our servers, ‘DB HOST’ should always be ‘localhost’. Please be careful to edit as necessary if you notice any additional inputted values.

Conclusion

Great! So, with this you have successfully transferred your hosting account without cPanel. The migration part is over and you can connect your domain name to the new server if you have a shared hosting plan or any other in particular.   Here is hoping that you have understood the article.
