Although these tests vary from month to month, one thing remains constant: 99.95% of our customers fall into "normal" range. If your account's bandwidth or disk space utilisation causes any concern, you will receive an email asking you to reduce usage. We strive to provide at least 48 hours notice to allow customers to make adjustments before we take any corrective action.
It is very rare for a customer to exceed normal usage while managing a website. Typically, customers only experience issues if they use their accounts for storage (for example large multimedia files) or file sharing. Our hosting services are not intended to support these activities, and in accordance with our Terms of Service your disk space and bandwidth usage must be integrated into the normal operation of a website. We offer various plans that better address high bandwidth and large storage requirements. Please contact us for details.
For plans or packages featuring unlimited websites, domains, or email accounts, we do not enforce any official limitations. Customers are able to utilise as many of these features as they wish. That said, these are of course not infinite resources and there are inherent maximums associated with the technology powering them. For example, while email account creation is unlimited, these rely on the file storage available on the account. Therefore customers need to be operating within the Terms of Service to ensure resources are available to fully enable email functionality. Customers operating within the Terms of Service have yet to come up against technical boundaries for email, domains, or websites.
Free Domain Policy
If you register a domain with Bluehost when signing up for a hosting account, there is a domain fee that is non-refundable. This not only covers our costs, but ensures that you won't lose your domain name. Regardless of the status of your hosting service, you'll be free to manage it, transfer it after any required lock periods, or simply point it elsewhere at your convenience. You retain ownership of your domain until the end of its registration period unless you elect to extend it.

The free WordPress migration is available for any WordPress users interested in migrating to Bluehost. We do two checks to see if the migration will work with your website. We run the first quick check right after you’ve created an account and let us know what site you want to migrate. That check just makes sure your domain leads to a WordPress site. The second check happens once you install the plugin. Then we look at things like your site’s WordPress version, website size, database size, use of WordPress multisite, current secure plugins, and PHP version. As long as your website meets the qualification criteria, you will be eligible for a free migration.
If your website does not fit the criteria for a free migration, you will have the option to utilise our paid migration service, which will go a step beyond the free migration and provide a more customised experience for more unique cases.
The Bluehost WordPress Migration plugin creates a backup of your WordPress site, and that backup gets securely transferred to your Bluehost account. Once your site has been transferred, you’ll be able to review it on a temporary URL. When everything looks good and we receive your approval, we’ll make final adjustments on our side to complete the migration process. As a final step, you’ll connect your domain to your new site at Bluehost (aka point your domain, or DNS). Only after you’ve pointed your domain name and made sure everything is working will you want to cancel your existing hosting service. That way you can avoid any website interruptions.
